After a day and a half of contemplating it, I have removed the backbox / muffler from my 125i and it now sounds amazing

When cruising at 30 you can’t tell anything has been done to the exhaust till you accelerate, also has some nice pops off throttle.

No video of the sound yet but I’m sure you can imagine how nice the straight 6 sounds

ah, there isn’t any new section, just cut it off and left it at that for now lol

was going to modify the backbox above to use the valve to swap between ultra quiet (oem) and loud (no backbox) but it seems fine as it is so might just be a straight pipe to the end

All I want to do with mine is remove one of the three(!) silencers and hear what it sounds like but BMW had to go and pull a dick move. The whole thing is welded into a single piece. Any modification means cutting, and I’m not equipped to do that.

Yeah I noticed that on mine, all seemed to be 1 pipe rather than split into sections

Is there no friendly mechanics nearby that could help out?

Plus BMW uses some weirdass exhaust hangars. I’d need to fabricate one if I cut out the last muffler and put in pipe.

If I had any sort of metalwork training and equipment I’d do it in a heartbeat, but I have neither.

Yeah those hangers were a pain to get out with the bumper still on. As for the metalwork, I can do the basics but things like welding I get my brother to do
